READ CAREFULLY 1) Jesuits, 'soldiers of Christ', aren't your average priests. An order founded in 1540, it had great emphasis on scholarship, learning native languages and unorthodox approaches to missionary work. Pope Francis is a Jesuit, which explains his liberal views 2) Naturally, the Jesuits had no qualms about amassing any astronomical & mathematical knowledge from the pagan lands they went to proselytize in. India was no exception. They were very active in Kerala, where they gained access to Yuktibhasa, the seminal manuscript of Calculus. 3) At that time, Europe was struggling with a calendar problem-Their Julian calendar with leaps years had cumulatively lost 8 days by 1200s & kept getting worse! Pope Gregory ordered the Jesuits to gather whatever knowledge they could from Pagans-They came back with Indian Calculus 4) But neither Jesuits NOR ANY of the European scholars at that time had the mental capacity to understand the ADVANCED calculus. Not Galilio, not Copernicus, not Tycho Brahe. They stared stupidly at the Calculus in the manuscripts, taking only the astronomy 5) Even the chief Jesuit mathematician Christopher Clavius who oversaw the manuscript gathering & calendar reform was helpless. It is notable that he was one of the FIRST Europeans to start using the INDIAN decimal point- Probably the only thing he understood from the Yuktibhasa 6) While Clavius took the decimal system from the Pagan texts, others too were busy in their appropriations. Tycho Brahe who undoubtedly had direct access to Kerala school manuscripts did a blunder deserving a new proverb- "When you copy someone's work, you also copy the blunders" 7) Tycho Brahe, while studying the Yuktibhasa, stumbled upon the erroneous planetary model of Neelakantha Somayaji who believed that all planets except earth revolves around the sun, which in turn revolves around the earth- the 'Tychonic Model'. Coincidence? 8) Tycho's predecessor Nicholas Copernicus had already obtained the heliocentric model from the texts of Brahmagupta and Bhaskara via Arab sources . But the copy-cat disciple took a step backwards.This caused disagreement with assistant Johannes Keplar who fixed it after Tycho died. 9) Johannes Keplar finally compiled all the astronomical knowledge amassed from Aryabhatta, Brahmagupta, Bhaskara and Madhava and declared the 'Laws of planetary motion', components of which was already known in India since Aryabhatta including the law of 'elliptical orbits'. 10) But we still haven't reached calculus! None of these people could understand it, let alone apply it! Not even the great Johannes Keplar. They only took the necessary astronomy for Gregorian reforms,the decimal, rudimentary mathematics & some blunders. 11) Calculus waited for the day another Avatara, a genius like Bhaskara or Madhava to take birth again! Back in India, we had already sunk into the darkest age. Vijayanagar fell & the whole country plunged into desert barbarism. Kerala school, the last temple of reason, also died out 12) That genius was born in 1642. He was Issac Newton. He finally comprehended the calculus, applied it to the law of gravitation(which itself was discovered by Bhaskara) unifying physics & math. For First time in history, Europe overtook India in science. 13) It was not just Issac newton though. In the 17th century, a large number of Europeans were having independent access to these manuscripts. And they were all claiming to have rediscovered the mathematical results on their own! Shameless! Leibniz, Fermat, Euler, Pascal and others! 14) The results in the Yuktibhasa started popping up ALL OVER Europe like pimples at the same time.In the 17thC! They gave their own name to the infinite series. Newton & Leibniz were bitterly fighting over it! Thieves fighting over who stole it first! 15) But the fact of the matter is, NONE OF THEM could produce formal proof of how they derived the results. They had pulled it out of thin air. Thats why we have a story of Newton & the apple of enlightenment falling on his head! But we know Yuktibhasa was not grown on an apple tree 16) newton knew that he was appropriating without due attribution to sources. That is exactly what plagiarism means. Perhaps he felt guilty.For he may not have known the names of the intellectual giants-Bhaskara, Madhava, Jyesthadeva, Neelakanta-The true fathers of Analytical science 17) I have compiled in as concisely few tweets as possible only the key motives & circumstances of the transmission. But the actual mathematical aspects, additional evidences & implications are complex.Please share with family, friends & also strangers.It's the only way to reclaim it. Shashi Tharoor suffers from a quaint dissonance. He thrashes the British Colonial rule for its cruelty - true enough, but for that he dissembles/excuses, the sheer malice of Mughals and venal incompetence of Congress, the 2 rules which bracket the British, in Indian History. Take for example this, "The Congress MP appearing on national channel ABC’s Question and Answer on September 04, 2017, described at length how India’s textiles, dominated mostly by Muslims, were systematically destroyed by the British. “The British came to one of the richest countries in the world when the GDP was almost 27% in the 17th century, 23% in the18th. But, over 200 years of exploitation, loot and destruction reduced India to a poster child for third world poverty”, he said in reply to a question about the British rule in India." I presume he is quoting Angus Maddison's research on GDP. Then let's look at the GDP % prior to Mughals taking 1500-1700 as the Mughal era, the GDP % was evidently higher prior to the Mughals, it was even higher prior the Muslim Sultanates. Indian fell behind China for the first time, during Mughal time. So why excuse the Muslims/Mughals? And then let's look at 1950-2003, the Congress era. India and China started out at the same stage. Compare the change achieved by China and by India. So why defend the Congress and be a member? Mughals and Congress, appear to be better, only when compared to the disaster of Colonialism. Not much of a credit, is it? And that too only in terms of GDP. There was a different cost which was extorted from the civilization by the Muslim marauders and Congress Kleptocrats - in terms of culture, heritage and lives. The argument that while Muslims looted and massacred, they did not send the loot outside of the country, so they are better than British, that is as pathetic an excuse, as the British saying, yes we looted and massacred India, but gave cricket and railways. Also remember, India had to pay with 2 huge pieces of herself, broken and severed, due to the Muslims. Of course the second looter, aided the first looter in that. So that is the cost India had to pay for Muslims, much more than the British loot. And the remaining India is still paying the descendants of both the looters, in terms of social-political-cultural benefits.

बात नवंबर 2007 की है। विधानसभा का चुनाव प्रचार अपने चरम पर था। NDTV, नरेंद्र मोदी को हराने के लिए कमर कस के मैदान में उतर चुका था। विनोद दुआ रिपोर्टिंग करने के नाम पर पूरे एक महीने तक गुजरात में रहे। रोज़ वह अपने कैमरामैन के साथ किसी नई जगह पहुँच जाते और लोगों से सवाल जवाब शुरू कर देते। उनके सवाल रेपेटिटिव होते थे और इनमें एक सवाल जो कॉमन होता था वह ये कि "क्या आप जानते हैं कि आप के मुख्यमंत्री के हाथ खून से सने हुए हैं?" एक महीने के धुआँधार चुनाव प्रचार के बाद विनोद दुआ दिल्ली वापस लौटे। मतगणना वाले दिन सुबह 8 बजे नया सूट पहन कर, तैयार हो कर, दुआ NDTV के स्टूडियो पहुंचे। उन्हें पूरा विश्वास था कि उनकी मेहनत रंग लाएगी और मोदी सत्ता से रुखसत होंगे। पर दुआ भूल गये कि मेहनत तो मोदी ने भी खूब की है। 10 बजते-बजते भाजपा की सत्ता में वापसी तय मानी जाने लगी। विनोद दुआ का मन पैनल डिसकशन में रत्ती भर भी नहीं लग रहा था। वह स्टूडियो छोड़ कर जो गये तो दोबारा NDTV के न्यूज़ रूम में वापस नहीं लौटे। कुछ महीनों बाद विनोद दुआ एक नया प्रोग्राम लेकर आये। उसका नाम था - "ज़ायका इंडिया का" 2014 में नरेंद्र मोदी अहमदाबाद से निकल कर पूर्ण बहुमत के साथ दिल्ली चले आये। इंडिया का जायका बदल चुका था।

Abusing Modi on the way, Abdul reached district office to apply for one of those houses. 10. Soon Abdul heard that Indian Army has killed 12 infiltrators who were on a mission. This news hurt Abdul as his humanity kicked in. 11. Then he switched off the LED lights in his room he had received a few months ago at cheap rates under UDAY and went to sleep as he was afraid. Abdul is now afraid. Very afraid. Someone help him !! Abdul doesn't need things stated above. He needs BEEF. Plus Rohingyas to be settled along with him. So my Dad thought - if a girl is born is born - i will name her Shantala and if a boy is born I will name him Vishnu Vardhan Vishnu Vardhan's original name was Bitti Deva. He was a jain King. Ramanujacharya of VishistaAdvaitha fame, perhaps the most influential hindu guru after Sankara was touring India preaching his Vaishnava Bhakti tradition He converted BittiDeva into Sanathan Dharma and gave him the name Vishnu Vardhan [Blessing of Lord Vishnu] Ramanuja is for Sanathan Dharma what Thomas Acquinas is for Christianity He gave intellectual basis for Bhakti Tradition and popularised Vishnu or Vaishanava bhakti tradition. He brought back vigour and intellect to Sanatan Dharma and brought back Hinduism in most parts of South India which were under huge influence of Jainism and Buddhism. India was a great place at that time with thriving traditions of Saivism, Vaishnavism, Jainism and Buddhism. Srirangam temple, Tirupati Tirumala temples are all based on Ramanujacharya teachings Inspired by Ramanujcharya - Vishnu Vardhan built great temples of Halebeedu and Belur on Lord Vishnu and his Ten Avatars. Vishnu Vardhan capital was DwaraSamudra and Halebeedu temple which is in ruins today was original Dwarasamudra. It is more bigger and greater temple than well preserved Belur temple. 200 years after these great temples were built Allauddin Khilji came to power and changed everything - he sent Malik Kafur [Naib] to conquer south India in 1310. Malik Kafur [he was hindu who was castrated and converted to islam and sold as slave to Khilji.He is supposed to a lover of Khilji) .TO quote medieval historian Zainuddin Bharani - In those four or five years when the Sultan was losing his memory and his senses, he had fallen deeply and madly in love with the Malik Naib. He had entrusted the responsibility of the government and the control of the servants to this useless, ungrateful, ingratiate, sodomite] Kafur destroyed South India - Pandyas, Kakatiyas, HOysalas and Yadavas. He destroyed Hindu temples and ravaged South India. While he was destroying DwaraSamudra the local people covered Belur temple in Sand and hence he couldn't destroy it. Hence it survives to this day. And the more marvelous Dwarasamudra is lost for ever. Hence it is called as halebeedu [Old ruin] today Now tell me - Why do Hindus dont read about Ramanuja while every Christian reads Thomas Aquinas and defends Christianity based on his writings. His logic is taught in every university logic course. In fact i read Acquinas to learn logic. WHere are Ramanuja books in English or other languages ? The only person I know who can talk about Ramanuja is Kaza Venkat Father. Why are Indians not taught about Vishnu Vardhan or Belur while Shajahan and Tajmahal is given so much importance that many people in the world know only about India because of Taj Mahal. India has 100s of architectural wonders like Taj. But just as we reduced Indian freedom to one man Gandhi and made him Dad of Nation. We have reduced all our culture architecture to Taj Mahal and all our history to folklore of Mughal kings And we have totally forgotten our great philosophers. As an Indian i think everyone should see Belur in their life time and it is so unfortunate that Govt or tourism hardly gives any importance to it and they are not even maintianed properly.

A FB friend who is an academic abroad asked an interesting question. Does fighting for the Hindu cause have any impact upon your health? He was surprised that in so many answers, a different issue came up, that people feel constrained to be silent about their positions because that impacts their professional lives very badly. There are genuine negative consequences to being openly right wing, even now. I thought yeah so what else is new and let it be. But today on another friends wall I saw a comment, that a colleague who was a classical singer and Sanskrit scholar felt constrained to hide it for fear that people will think her a dehati. I was a corporate trainer for over two decades and twice I came upon senior executives who hid the fact they were trained classical musicians and singers. Western Classical is fine Indian is backward. In 1992 I had just moved to Mumbai with no support system living in a hovel and working as a wage slave. One asshole at work found I supported the Ram Mandir and tried to get me fired. When I was a trainer the greatest fear my employers had at each place was that it would get about that I am not only a Yogi, I know Tarot and Vaastu too. And damn well. But that would destroy my professional credibility apparently. I would be instantly slotted as Dubeji Pandeji level as one of them so kindly explained to me. The greatest achievement of the Nehruvian Idea of India barbarism was to demonize the word Hindu. Anything that had a Hindu perspective was instantly communal and dangerous and needed weeding out. I am sure every person can give similar stories. The brainwashing has been so deep, when I made my famous post on Honoring the Vertical Man, one of my followers shared it and instantly he was criticized by a Hindu lady in the US for sharing a communal view. Some hopeless mangina chimed in approving it. The person who shared was patient enough to explain and to the credit of the lady she accepted the explanation. I post the screenshot for your edification. She was just triggered by the word Hindu, that automatically meant communal prejudice. Such is our reality.

No such incident ever took place. My Facebook post was a lie,“ reads the statement. To questions by cops about the reason for such a bluff, the 24-year-old said, “I lied because have hatred towards Hindus.“ According to the police, Kashyap's intention was to play victim to gau rakshaks (cow vigilantes) and share his `plight' to disrupt communal harmony in Mumbai as well as across the country. In a complaint to the D N Nagar police on August 19, Kashyap, who lives opposite the Infinity Mall in Andheri, said he boarded an auto for his office around 11 am. During the commute, the professional said, the driver said his leather bag was stinking and asked if it was made of cowhide. Despite telling that it was camel skin, the autowallah stopped the three-wheeler at some place and returned with three men who heck led him, Kashyap alleged. “Aaj toh bach gaye [you were saved today],“ he told the cops quoting the men. The film executive, who hails from Assam, also narrated the incident in a Facebook post, raising a storm and putting immense pressure on the government to act.Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had then said that the culprits won't be spared. WHAT WENT AGAINST KASHYAP As the police began to investigate Kashyap's allegations, they found that the film executive left home at 1 pm, not 11 am as claimed by him, and took nine minutes to reach his office. “We collected footage of CCTV cameras installed on the entire stretch. We discovered that it was a smooth ride and the auto did not stop even for a minute. It was beyond doubt that he had lied to us.That is why we registered a case against him,“ said Deven Bharti, joint commissioner of police (law and order). POLITICS BEHIND THE SCRIPT? The police are also probing if Kashyap's allegations were part of a political conspiracy. “The fact that after the case was registered against Barun, he approached Aam Aadmi Party leader Priti Sharma Menon and stayed at her Chembur home for two days indicates a lot of things.The question is why he approached a political party for legal assistance.Was this a pre-planned agenda,“ asked a senior police officer. CHARGE SHEET SOON The Amboli police, which probed the case, are likely to file the charge sheet in a few days, said sources.Kashyap, who was arrested on October 4 and is currently lodged in Arthur Road prison, has been booked under section 153A (promoting enmity between groups) and 182B (for use of lawful power of a public servant to injure or annoy any person) of the Indian Penal Code. Of course he does have his supporters and his sympathisers across all walks of life and demographics, particularly in non-urban places but the folks who own the presses and the airwaves, so to speak, dominate this emotion of hatred. I am a US citizen of Indian origin. I live and work in India for personal and professional reasons. I have `skin in the game’ here and want India to prosper. With that as background, I must first confess that I am both mystified and disturbed by what I see in India. The most appalling thing that I have observed among many Indians is this deep desire for India NOT to be strong. NOT to succeed. NOT to really change. Certainly NOT to win! I’m truly mystified by this self-loathing and overweening self-centredness, a fundamental inability to put the society and country ahead of personal or sectarian interests. These critics range from folks who either outright hate him or folks who are disappointed. In between, are a few other categories. 1. Professional Modi baiters: Essentially a variety of media persons and industry professionals who either did the brainwashing or were brainwashed about Modi being an evil person and point to the 2002 riots in Gujarat as evidence. Includes self-proclaimed leftists-liberals, supporters of the Congress party and its clones. Obviously, the political party ecosystem did the brainwashing. Many regular folks who got brainwashed will not change their minds. After all, it is easier to be fooled than to admit that you were fooled. 2. The aggrieved set: In this category are the folks who believe that the Hindu majority, over the last 70 years, has been marginalized by minority vote banks. They point to government control of Hindu temples, reservations and subsidies given to minorities as evidence of being systematically disenfranchised. The media has enabled and fuelled this picture by selective reportage of events and facts. By a variety of perception management tricks that preys on low critical thinking and built in prejudices, the media has demonized millions of ordinary folks while elevating others who suited their agenda. This category feels nothing has changed under Modi and feel let down by the first PM who conveys India and her civilizational pride. They see this social and legal distortion as the burning issue to be fixed and are losing hope that it will ever get fixed. 3. The closet `Singhis’: Overtly they say they support Modi as PM but have already decided that he has failed. These are not necessarily Congress party supporters but many well meaning folks who took pride in claiming that India had a PM who was an accomplished economist and decent human being. I have observed this pattern especially among a few smart, successful Sikhs who cannot digest the failure of Manmohan Singh as PM. This is clearly not about religion, it is just that a PM who was one of their own could have made them proud but ended his two terms being ridiculed and insulted. 4. The Status quo-ists: They have nothing against Modi personally but they hate him because he represents change. They see an orthogonal mind at work and a move toward structural disruption and this threatens their linear plans. Traders, Brokers, Industrialists, the Bureaucracy, and Intellectuals with preprogrammed DNAs who clearly found it easier to thrive under a predictable, venal arrangement. In this bucket are also people who like to claim that they are fair minded. `I actually want Modi to succeed but…’ is typically how they will start their narrative about how he can’t scale from a CM to a PM and how he needs to carry people with him and not be so autocratic. And with confirmation bias, they cherrypick slanted statistics. 5. Short-rope snipers: While they have given Modi a rope, it is very short and on the other hand they hold a sniper’s rifle. These are typically very smart academics and think tank types who are willing to hold their noses for some time only because they recognize that India was made ungovernable between 2012 and 2014. This category also includes folks who think he is a `vernie’ (someone who studied in a vernacular medium) and lacks the western sophistication. These snobs don’t fool me because I used to be one of them. Their mantra is `Not that we love Modi less but we love Raghuram Rajan more’ and includes economists and commentators on India’s economy. This group has a fantastic intellectual capacity but is theoretical in its approach. Most of them have never run anything in their lives, leave alone a turnaround situation. Their filters are macro and super macro. The types who are now saying `I too wished things would get better but you know I told you so, winning an election and running a government are different things’. 6. The Chatterati: This category has the glorious inheritors among in its club. They belong to tabloids and an assortment of institutions that exist only because of loyalty to some political dispensation. They have created halos around themselves through systematic PR. They are the celebrities whose only achievement is celebrityhood. This group prescribes what Modi should say, what he should wear and what he should do and not do. They even comment on the Defence and the Economy ! 7. The Glitterati: Bollywood, and a few of the assorted `woods’ of India that are still unable to coin an original name for themselves and have a deep and long history of aligning themselves with the Modi baiters. From time to time, they smell the coffee and attempt to pay lip service to Modi’s governance. It does not take a lot for the façade to slip. A shout out from one of their pet categories about a crime and they quickly line up to blame Modi for creating an environment where `free speech’ is being trampled upon. 8. The Bitterati: Former Modi supporters who were hoping for some role in the government but have lost hope of getting anything. These are the folks who can easily put the nation ahead of themselves, and often struggle to do so, but the deep down, ambition gets the better of them. This includes politicians, former star CEOs, academicians, authors. They have allowed their feelings of self-aggrandisement transcend their feelings for the country. Among some, this bitterness is turning to schadenfreude. 9. The Forwarders: Urban India has millions of this category working in a typical corporate environment. Their world view is shaped by snatches of newspaper reading and TV and typically have that dangerous `half knowledge’ about most things. They will then troll social media for articles or commentary that confirms their bias and do their bit for the country by forwarding material and `Liking’ what they forward. They latch onto keywords like `Bhakt’ and paint Modi as someone who `spins’ achievements. And then go after his supporters viciously by denigrating their intelligence. 10. The insiders: As history has taught us, the one to fear the most is the enemy within. There are many in Modi’s party who will not want him to succeed. The fact that he is streets ahead of them in political astuteness, geopolitical vision and influence and in outcome-oriented governance makes them insecure. There are survival issues for them as well as issues of growth within the party and the government. When merit becomes the watchword in a feudal ethos, picture the panic. The simple fact is that many of these folks agree that Modi is honest. They will broadly agree that he works hard even while pointing out that he travels too much. Pushed to the wall, they will even agree that his intent and commitment are strong. They will further ventilate that India is a mess and point to other countries (ah see Singapore!) as role models. Further, they know deep down that the earlier dispensation put the country in the Intensive Care Unit. They recognise that transmission of policy and governance sits on a complex, self-serving bureaucratic machine that can’t be wished away or transformed overnight. They frequently shout about how much India is divided on various lines, over centuries. Now these same folks can see that many macro parameters are in India’s favor. They can see the strength of the Indian rupee after years of free fall. They can spend more time, do some independent research and understand the bottom up efforts being delivered through targeted governance. But they will not give Modi an honest chance. They will not say `Finally we have a person of integrity who cares about our nation, who works hard and is getting folks around him to work hard, who is trying to make a difference, who has inherited a horrible situation, who has accepted that he could make mistakes, has reached out for ideas and help, who needs our support, our encouragement and reasonable time to repair the destruction’. I wonder why.

My Leftist friend considers the Sangh Parivar his enemy and wants to see it routed, at least democratically. But when this desire starts clouding one’s judgement as a media professional, then it becomes problematic. The visceral hatred for one man who is now the Prime Minister of India is making many observers of politics lose their objectivity and sense of proportion. In their desperation to see Modi on his knees, they find meanings where none exists. They experience unwarranted euphoria over insignificant victories such as the ABVP losing a seat in Delhi University student’s union election; they are even willing to hear bugles of war in Rahul Gandhi’s Berkeley speech. It is not as if before 2014 the roads in India were paved with gold and that milk flowed through its rivers. It is not as if previous governments had done wonders for the welfare of the poor and marginalised. Of course this government has problems and one of them has been intimidation in the name of cow vigilantism. Of course the Modi dispensation needs to be called out on promises that have turned out to be hollow. In other words, roads in India are not paved with gold and no milk flows through its rivers even after 2014. But reporting this has to be done realistically without spelling a constant sense of doom and without conveying this impression that Modi is personally supervising an imagined Armageddon. Biases and hate crimes against Dalits, for example, have existed since the very beginning; farmers have committed suicide for years; law-and-order has been non-existent in many parts and continues to remain so; there has always been tension with Pakistan. Nobody, including Modi, has a magic wand to make these things disappear even if he and other leaders before him have given us such an impression. Journalists doing their job must nevertheless highlight the failings of this government. But it should not feel as if we have his voodoo doll inside our drawers into which pins must be stuck every day. It is sometimes vital to take a step back and look at how certain things have worked for Modi even as most of us predicted that they would prove to be his Achilles heel. It is okay to be anti- authority, but that should not be only because there is a particular man at the helm of affairs. The idea is to write about the wrong policies of any government, not to hold meetings on how to bring it down CONSIDER DEMONETISATION. We have written and spoken about it extensively. We have shot videos of long queues outside banks and of marketplace gloom with our cellphone cameras. We still don’t know the long- term effects of this decision, but it also needs to be recognised that Modi’s BJP has scored a spectacular win in UP despite the disruption caused. This should make us pause and wonder if we are disconnected from how the people of this country think. Somehow Modi has managed to convince people that this is going to pinch the rich more than the poor. He has managed to impress upon them that he seeks no personal gain, that he has no Robert Vadra in his family who requires fancy bikes and cycles and expensive SPG cover, but only a mother who wears a worn sari and whom he goes to meet occasionally. Instead, some of us seem to have turned antagonism towards Modi into a sort of spectator sport without realising that Modi would not be who he is if he was not hated so much. A journalist friend speaks of her colleague who, while travelling through UP, would ask for her driver’s opinion on demonetisation and when told he had a good feeling about it, shouted at him for being so ‘ignorant’. Earlier in September, Pratik Sinha, founder of AltNews, a website that exposes fake news, published a clarification over a post put up by former police officer, Sanjiv Bhatt, a known critic of Modi. Bhatt had claimed that believers were stopped from offering prayers at the Sidi Saiyyed mosque in Ahmedabad when Modi accompanied Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe there on a visit. Presenting evidence that no such thing had happened, Sinha writes: ‘It is absolutely irresponsible on part of those who circulate such rumours on social media without cross-checking facts. Such rumours lead to communal polarisation. As it is, we are living in times when the strife between various religious/cultural communities is alarmingly high. We do not need social media rumours to further magnify this divide.’ Immediately afterwards, Sinha was trolled on social media, with many telling him that Bhatt and he were on the same side and that they should not be fighting among themselves but with their ‘common enemy’. One Modi critic went on to tell him that he was growing too big for ‘your boots’. Sinha had faced similar criticism for taking on the Left activist Shehla Rashid for asking a TV reporter to “get out” from the parking lot of the Delhi Press Club where she was making a political speech. We have written and spoken about demonetisation extensively. We still don’t know the long-term effects of this decision, but it also needs to be recognised that Modi’s BJP has scored a spectacular win in UP despite the disruption caused Modi bashers often use a term, ‘Godi media’, for those who they think sit in the proverbial lap of this government, doling out a favourable narrative of its efforts and achievements. But they sometimes forget that they themselves have become ‘Goop media’, turning to jelly whenever they try looking at the failings of non- BJP politics. Before her death, Gauri Lankesh had tweeted, ‘Ok some of us commit mistakes like sharing fake posts. Let us warn each other then. And not try to expose each other. Peace...comrades’ [apparently referring to photoshopped pictures of a Lalu Prasad rally which some had shared].
